• Inspect for concrete corrosion.

    Inspecting the steps for cracks that can cause concrete corrosion is important. Numerous times concrete corrosion can occur when the steel rebar within the reinforced concrete structures rust, as shown in the image.

  • What kind of cracks to look for.

    From small cracks to larger ones it is still consider a crack that can eventually start the concrete corrosion. The crack allows water to enter the precast step which ultimately will reach the steel reinforcement rebar. A small crack (like the ones shown in the above image)can be a sign that it is time to replace the step

  • Replacing Multiple Steps.

    High traffic areas should be consider for multiple step replacement to insure safety. If there is one precast step with multiple cracks inspect the other precast steps around it.
